Delta values as a prognostic marker in methanol poisoning: a retrospective cohort study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate mortality prediction performances delta bicarbonate, anion gap, and ratio in methanol poisoning (MP) cases.
Materials Methods: This clinical study, which followed a cross-sectional design, involved patients with MP who were still alive when they initially arrived at emergency department tertiary care hospital. Patients divided into two groups non-mortality. died during treatment follow-up assigned group, while others non-mortality group. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis used determine cut-off diagnostic value measurements biomarkers predicting mortality.
Results: Nine (20%) 45 their follow-up. showed significant difference averages pH, bicarbonate (HCO3-), lactate, HCO3-, ratio, but not partial carbon dioxide pressure (pCO2). In mortality, gap found have outstanding power (AUC>0.9), acceptable (AUC: 0.7-0.8). Conclusion: Delta can be as prognostic factors cases.

Lead Poisoning in Opium Abusers: A Five-year Retrospective Study

Background and purpose: Lead is a metal present in nature that does not play a role in physiological processes of the body. Today, the use of lead in many materials and industries causes environmental contamination. But, the prevalence is unclear among people and the concentration of lead in the blood has never been tested in general .This study was conducted to compare clinical observations an...

The Prognostic Impact of WT1 Expression Levels, Mutations, and SNP rs16754 in AML Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Study

Background and Objective: The clinical outcomes and treatment options for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients are highly dependent upon molecular markers. In this study, Wilms tumor (WT1) (exons 7 and 9) mutations, SNP rs16754, and WT1 expression levels in 130 random AML patients were screened; FMs-like tyrosine kinase-3 internal tandem duplication (FLT3-ITD), nucleophosmin (NPM1), and CCAAT/...

Urinary phosphorus excretion per creatinine clearance as a prognostic marker for progression of chronic kidney disease: a retrospective cohort study

BACKGROUND Whether phosphate itself has nephrotoxicity in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is controversial, although phosphate excretion into urine may cause tubular damage in rat models. To evaluate actual phosphate load on each nephron, we examined the association between 24-h urinary phosphorus excretion per creatinine clearance (24-h U-P/CCr), a newly proposed index that is a sur...

The hydrophilic proteins of lung surfactant as a prognostic marker in experimental pneumonia

Abstract BACKGROUND: SP-A and SP-D are hydrophilic proteins which regulate the inflammatory response of the lung. Pasteurella multocida is one of the most common bacteria isolated from calves suffering from shipping fever pneumonia, one of the most problems in dairy herds. OBJECTIVE: Evaluation of surfactant content may provide a valuable diagnostic tool for detection of calf pneumonia due to ...

Hypergammaglobulinemia in the pediatric population as a marker for underlying autoimmune disease: a retrospective cohort study

BACKGROUND The significance of hypergammaglobulinemia as a marker of immune activation is unknown, as a differential diagnosis for hypergammaglobulinemia in children has not been adequately established. The goal of this study was to identify conditions associated with hypergammaglobulinemia in children, with the hypothesis that elevated immunoglobulin levels may precede or predict the developme...
